Monticello Speedway, LLC

2007 Track Rules

1. Flagman has complete authority during the race!

 2. Heats and ‘B’ features are on a 15 minute time limit.  After 5 yellows in an ‘A’ feature, we will go green/white/checkered.

 3. Fire suits are mandatory in all classes.  No driver is allowed to race/hot lap in shorts & t-shirts.  Racing helmets are mandatory in all classes and should have a ‘snell’ rating of at least 95.  Neck braces and window nets (or arm restraints) are mandatory in all classes.  Fire resistant gloves and shoes are Highly Recommended.  These safety precautions benefit you.

 4. Cars should be painted in a professional manner with the number painted in a contrasting color on both sides, rear, and top of car, large enough for the scorer to distinguish from the press box.  At least a 6’x6’ number on the rear of car.

 5. Track officials are not allowed to draw for any reason.  Line-ups will be made after the draw has closed.  Car must be at track in order to draw.  If you have not drawn, you will run tailback.  If you want to run tailback, please inform the officials at the draw.  If one car does not make the line-up, all cars behind that car will move straight forward.

 6. The flagman will start all races, no cone, no line.  Stay nose to tail, when you see the green flag or green light you are racing.  Leaders must maintain a reasonable pace until we go green.  Pay attention to the lights, if the lights are out you will be getting the green

 7. The pole car will set the pace, which shall be consistent with track conditions and as required to keep the field in nose-to-tail formation.  If you are out of line, the yellow flag will wave and you will go to the rear.  The race is officially over when the checkered flag is thrown.

 8. The only flag to follow the white is the checkered, unless the track is completely blocked or in case of fire.  In this case, the race will be paid from the last completed lap.  If the leader has taken the white flag and has a clear path to the checkered, the checkered will be thrown.  If not, a yellow will be thrown and cars lined up (minus the cars in the yellow) and we will go green/white/checkered.  If a yellow has to be thrown during this restart, the race will be over and paid from the last completed lap (minus the cars in the yellow/red).

  9. The pole car should set the pace at a reasonable speed.  Do not keep the pace so slow that the cars behind are ‘bogged’ down.  Flagman may signal cars to pick up speed.  If this signal is ignored, flagman may put that car on the rear.  This includes single file restarts.  It is up to the front row to set the pace so that the race is started evenly.  If this cannot be done in two attempts, one or both cars will go to the rear.

 10. Line-ups after a red or yellow flag will be according to the last completed scored lap with the cars involved in the red or yellow flag lined-up on the rear.

11. A Red Flag means Stop- there is a Dangerous situation on the track!  Do Not Drive around.  If you ignore the Red Flag, you will be Disqualified.

 12. No Speeding in the Pits – This includes 4-wheelers and all types of pit vehicles.

 13. No hot laps after race starts.

 14. Order of events is on the pit board  Know when you race.  Be in the staging area, in line and ready to race when your race is called to go to the track or go to the rear of that race.  We will not wait on you.  Be in your starting spot and ready to race when you come on the track.  There will be no jumping of heats.

 15. Cars should enter the track in turn two and exit the track in turn one.  Cars leaving the track should yield to cars in the next race coming on the track.  There will be a track official to control cars going on.

16. No pit members on the track or you will go to the pits.  Track officials will assist you in any way they can.

 17. Contact with another car after the red, yellow or checkered flag has been thrown will not be tolerated and will result in being disqualified for that night You cannot change cars after a race has begun.  If you borrow a car from a fellow driver, that driver cannot drive that car again that night.  You must notify an official that has a radio before changing cars and must be done before that race starts.  If we don’t know who you are, you will not be scored.

 18. The top five cars in the heat races will report to the tech area. The top three cars will report to tech area immediately following the end of the feature race.  If you go to the pits before going to tech you will be disqualified from that race.  If you are not sure where you finished go to tech anyway.  If you are disqualified in the tech area, you will receive no money and no points.

 19.  Fighting in the pits will result in loss of points and pay that night.  If you go to another drivers pit and a fight starts you will be the one penalized.  Drivers are responsible for their pit members.  The Drew County Sheriff’s Department will handle all fights according to Drew County Laws.

 20. Your first night racing at Monticello Speedway, you will be charged with a $25 registration fee.  These proceeds go directly into the points fund for your class.  There will be no duplicate numbers in a class.  The first car to register with a number will be the only car to use that number in a class for the whole year.  You may add letters.

 21. Any car leaving the track under a yellow flag during the Heat Race will not be allowed back on the track for that race.

 22. You may exit the track under a yellow flag during the Feature Race to go to the Tire Changing Area only.  You will be allowed to re-enter the track and restart on the rear if the Race has not already resumed.  In the event that the race has resumed, the Pit Steward will not allow you back onto the track.

 23. The Black Flag means to get off the track immediately.  There will be no disputing the Black Flag.  If you ignore the Black Flag you will be disqualified for the night – no points and no money.   If you are Black Flaged for rough driving or unsportsmanlike conduct in the feature, you will receive no points & no money.

 24. A driver that has been disqualified in the tech area will receive no point and no money for that night’s race.

 25. EVERYONE ENTERING THE PIT AREA MUST SIGN A RELEASE FORM. If you have not signed the release form, our insurance will not cover you.  Anyone entering the pits without signing the release form will not be allowed in the pits for the next 3 race nights.  If it happens more than once you will not be allowed in the pits the rest of the year.

 26. ANYONE UNDER THE AGE OF 16 MUST HAVE ADULT SUPERVISION AND A SIGNED PARENTAL RELEASE FORM.

 27. Track officials reserve the right to refuse entrance to any person.

 28. All Motors including cars and generators, will be shut off during the Drivers Meeting, Prayers, and National Anthem.

 29. No Alcoholic Beverages or Intoxicants of any kind will be allowed on the track premises.

 30. All cars stopped when the yellow comes out will go to the rear.  This is the Flagman and the track officials decision and it will be final.

 31. Any cars causing two yellows must leave the track.  That car will still be awarded points and money for that race.

 32. No car will be allowed to race if the car is smoking excessively or impairing the vision of other drivers.

 33. Intentional yellows will get you sent off the track ( examples including but not limited to: sitting in the infield then pulling out and stopping, stopping on the track then after yellow is thrown driving off).  If you're stopped, it better be because you have no choice.

 34. Harassment of any track official will not be tolerated.  Such action will result in suspension.  When a car is being teched, no one from another car is allowed in tech area.

 35. Car count determines how many heats will be run: Up to 12 cars = 1 heat; 13-20 cars = 2 heats; 21-30 cars = 3 heats; 31-40 cars = 4 heats.  20 cars will start the ‘A’ Feature.

 36. The pay window is at the pit entrance booth.  It is your responsibility to collect your winnings. It is your responsibility to fill out a driver information sheet completely.  You will not collect any winnings until you do.

 37.  RACEceivers will be allowed.  These allow us to speak to the drivers during the race for line-up restarts or if dangerous conditions exist on the track.
