CRUISER RULES 2008

ITEMS NOT MENTIONED IN THE FOLLOWING MUST REMAIN STOCK AS PRODUCED BY THE ORIGINAL MANUFACTURER.

RULE DISCLAIMER

The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events.  These rules shall govern the condition of all events, and by participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules.  NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATIONS OF OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS.  They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant, spectator, or official.

The race director shall be empowered to permit reasonable and appropriate deviation from any of the specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that in his opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements.  NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OF SPECIFICATIONS.  Any interpretation of deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials.  Their decision is final.

 

IF IT DOESN’T SAY YOU CAN-THEN YOU CAN’T.  Any American made stock passenger car or full-size truck with full frame.  Chrysler or Ford unibodies except Mustangs.  Sun roofs and T-Tops must be reinforced and enclosed.  No external rub bars or nerf bars allowed. Must have a minimum of three windshield bars in front of driver.  If carrying a passenger, bars must continue across entire windshield opening.  No ballast or weight allowed. All glass, plastic, upholstery, lights, mirrors, and trim must be removed.  All doors must be chained, bolted, or welded.  Front inner fender wells may be removed.  Cars must be strictly stock, no cutting, channeling, gutting, shortening or modifying is allowed.  Front and rear outer fenders may be cut for wheel and tire clearance.  No Front wheel drives or fuel-injection allowed.

ENGINE

  1. Engine-Must be strictly stock for make and model.  No balancing, stoking or destoking allowed.  All engine components including water pump, distributor, starter, etc…must be strictly stock.  Oil pan may be after market. 
  2. Cam & Valve Train-Hydraulic Cam and lifters only.  Must maintain minimum of 16 inches vacuum at 850 rpm. 1.94 maximum diameter valves on all small block Chevrolet.  Stock size valve springs only.  Stamped steel 1.5 rockers only.  No roller tips.  Open chambered cylinder heads only, must be unaltered.  OEM steel heads. You must have A ACCESS PORT ON THE INTAKE EASILY ACCESSABLE BY TECH OFFICAL TO CHECK VACUUM.
  3. Carburetor & Fuel Pump-Holley 2 barrel 4412 500 CFM, UNALTERED, No replaceable air bleeds, only exception, removal of choke flap from choke horn, must measure 1.275” at top 1 11/16” at base.  No electric fuel pumps.
  4. Exhaust-Stock exhaust type manifolds only, Chevrolets – No center dump type manifolds.  No headers, short or long, stock or aftermarket.  Cast iron manifolds ONLY.  Mufflers Mandatory!
  5. Intake Manifold – Stock intake only.

FUEL

Pump gasoline only.  No additives.  Stock type pumps for make and model. Fuel tank may be in original location, or secured in trunk.  No electric Fuel pumps. Fuel cell recommended.

ROLL CAGE

At least a four point cage, minimum size 1 ½”O.D. by .095 wall thickness.  Minimum three driver side door bars and two on passenger side is required.  If carrying a passenger, you must have three bars on the passenger side.  Four point quick release seat belts and harness required for driver and passenger.  Racing seat optional.  The driver and passenger doors inner liner can only be altered as necessary to install bars in door area.  All battery’s mounted in drivers compartment must be mounted in an enclosure (BOX). Gussets are required at ALL door bar welds. 1/8” door plate is mandatory on drivers side and if equipped for a passenger, passenger side as well.

RADIATOR

Any radiator that fits the original location without any body modifications allowed

REAR-END

Stock rear end for Make and Model.  Gears must remain unlocked.  No alterations allowed.  No limited slip, ratchet type or any other traction type of diff. Stock or aftermarket.  ANY GEAR RATIO ALLOWED.  360 degree driveshaft loop required, driveshaft must be painted white.

SUSPENSION

Front and rear suspension must be stock for that make and model of car.  No aftermarket racing shocks may be used.  No air shocks or aftermarket racing springs or any other parts.  No alterations to any part of the suspension will be allowed.  No aftermarket bushings-rubber only.  No alterations to any part of the suspension will be allowed.  Front springs Must Match, rear springs Must Match.

STEERING

Must remain in stock location. No quick steer boxes allowed.

TRANSMISSION

Transmissions, flywheels, clutches, and torque converters strictly stock for make and model of car. Transmission cooler is allowed but must be outside of drivers compartment. All drive shafts must have loop and be painted white.

BRAKES

Stock for make and model of car. Master cylinder must remain in stock location.  No brake shut off or bias adjustment allowed.  Must have complete working 4 wheel brake system.

TIRES & WHEELS

8” wheels allowed, steel wheels only, no Bead Locks or screws allowed. NO bleed-off valves.  Must run 1” lug nuts on Both sides, front and rear, 5/8” studs REQUIRED. Monticello Speedway Tires Only Must durometer 55 after the race Must remain slick.  (Stamped Monticello Speedway asphalt pulloffs F45s available Monticello Speedway or AM Rental/Racing) No exceptions once the points races start.  No grooving or siping of tires front and rear.  Wheel spacers are allowed if needed for tire clearance.

NUMBERS

Numbers must be on top and sides of car. Must be at least 22” tall.  Must be visible to judges in the tower.  THIS IS MANADATORY!  Must be painted to resemble a cartoon character.  It does not matter what you have be told in the past these are the rules for 2008.   MUST HAVE A 12X12 SQUARE WITH NUMBER ON THE BACK, VISIBLE TO THE CAR BEHIND YOU.

DOORS

Doors maybe gutted for clearance

BUMPERS

Stock or aftermarket bumper.  Aftermarket bumpers may not be no larger than 3” by ¼ “ angle, square tubing, or pipe.  Ends must be completely open.  May come off front bumper no wider or taller than radiator. No larger than 1” material may be used to protect radiator.  Bumpers may not be wider than stock bumper.

CARS

No front wheel drive cars or fuel injection allowed.

WHEELS

Wheel spacers are allowed if needed for tire clearance.
